Sea Girls - 'Midnight Butterflies' Review - Vulnerable, Bold & Brilliant...

Midnight Butterflies made me feel like an 18 year old who's only concern was how many of us were going around town clubbing at the weekend.

Sea Girls third studio album adds some real variety into their discography. 'Midnight Butterflies' is packed full to the brim like a Tub Of Heroes with Eclairs (Shoutout to all you Eclair Lovers) with the catchy chorus's and guitar riffs we've come to expect from the London based four piece.

We were treated to six releases prior to the release of the full album and out of the pre-released songs a personal highlight for me was 'I Want You To Know Me'. Marketed as the follow up to 'Do You Really Wanna Know' this direction was an extremely bold move by the band due to the commercial success of the 2020 hit but it delivers wonderfully."I wanna be a singer in a pop band", Henry you're a singer in an indie band, a very good indie band!

Whilst the pre-released songs were fantastic, the ones released on the album launch date were equally as good. 'Horror Movie' discusses some of the more toxic traits in our world such as Money, Phones and Dating. Equipped with a catchy chorus, think Baby Shark but for Adults! From Baby Shark to crying like a baby 'Scream and Shout' was an emotional rollercoaster (Wickerman). Leading with a piano this change in tempo worked extremely well and I’m looking forward to hearing it live.

Care free, euphoric, bold and youthful 'Midnight Butterflies' is an absolute triumph for Sea Girls.
